Patna Pirates have made their way back up at the top of the points table by winning the third consecutive match in the last six days. The Pirates played their sixteenth match of the season against Bengal Warriors on 6th February. After winning an extraordinary match against the Gujarat Giants on 4th February, the Pirates were quite motivated to ensure their third continuous win. The team also went on a nine-day break due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the team’s camp and hence, their determination to give their best absolutely reflects in their game. The game was led by an exceptional performance by Chiyaneh and Sachin. A High 5 from Mohammadreza Chiyaneh and a Super 10 from Sachin helped the Patna Pirates beat the Bengal Warriors with 38-29 points. Hence, with this game, Patna Pirates got their seat back at the top of VIVO Pro Kabaddi League Season 8’s points table.
The game continued closely in the first few minutes as both the team’s raiding units located success. Also, both the teams’ scoreboard was separated by only one point. However, Patna Pirates’ three straight points made them take the lead over the game, swinging the game’s momentum in their favor. Moving ahead, the Warriors ensured to minimize their four-point deficit to only one. Then, the Pirates came back to reclaim their control over the game with a 6-0 run, taking back the lead to 15-7. A touch-point from Nabibakhsh helped the Warriors to keep the infliction of All Out at the bay. But, the Pirates still managed to somehow inflict an All Out with only two raids of the last two players left on the mat. With this, the Pirates took their lead to 19-10. Adding two more points to their total and leading by 11 points, Patna Pirates ended their first half and went into the break.
The first few minutes of the second half were played evenly by the teams, as the Bengal Warriors tried their best to cut their points deficit. However, the Pirates maintained their 11 point lead in the game. The Bengal Warriors saw a ray of hope for a potential comeback in the game with a 5-1 play. But, Sachin took three points in two raids which pushed the Pirates’ lead back up to nine and left the Bengal Warriors with only a single man on the mat. Further, Patna Pirates managed to inflict an All Out, reclaiming their 11-point lead in the game and hence, winning went beyond the Warriors’ reach. However, the Bengal Warriors tried their best to minimize their deficit to seven and gain a point from the contest, but victory was any way out of sight for them. Patna Pirates moved ahead to add more and more points to their total and finally won the game with a nine-point lead.
