In the spotlight: 3 players of the season

The 3 times Champion Patna Pirates are not only one of the fiercest team to battle in the League but also have some of the most talented and great record holding players. Led by Pradeep Narwal who has set the bar high, the team has flourished under his captaincy and he’s also made way for the young players to perform their best. Much has been spoken and already known about the leader but in the spotlight here are players Jawahar Dagar, Vikas Kale & Vijay Kumar who let their performance speak for themselves in 2018.

Jawahar Dagar

An all-rounder and a raider in Patna Pirates, the young sportsman has had quite a journey in the Pro Kabaddi. Debuting in the season 4 with Jaipur Pink Panther, he was later bagged by team Patna Pirates in Season 5. With his incredible performance not only did he proved himself to be an asset for the team but also got retained for season 6.

In a run of 24 matches this time, he has earned himself 31 tackle points and 6 raid points. His best performance in this season was against Gujarat Fortunegiants for Patna Pirates where even though the team lost the match, Jahawar Dagar successfully managed to score Tackle Points & Super Tackle Points alongside Jaideep while the team was struggling. A bonafide player who performs well under pressure!

Vikas Kale

The right corner defender Vikas Kale who initially started off with the Bengal Warriors in season 2 was seen playing for Telugu Titans in season 3, U Mumba in season 4, Gujarat Fortunegiants in season 5 before finally landing with Team Patna Pirates in season 6.

From only 19 matches that he participated in, the player’s performance speaks volumes for his skill. As per the statistics Kale has earned 21 tackle points for 59 total tackles. True to his name “Vikas” which means growth the player’s strongest asset remains to be flexible to game plans, team approaches, learning and performing. Bagged for 27.4 lacs in season 6 the player surely has a long way to go in professional Kabbadi.

Vijay

Fondly called as “Vijay-the wonder boy” by his team, the young raider debuted in season 5 for Patna Pirates. Pleasantly surprising everyone with a brilliant performance, he successfully retained his spot in season 6.

With a total of 21 matches played, he has managed to earn 73 points for himself with 60 total raid points and 13 total tackle points. His best performance remains against Gujarat Fortunegiants where the young player scored 8 points for his team at a crucial point in the game. Though the team lost, the young player surely emerged as one of the players to watch out for.

Season 6 saw some unexpected twists and turns including the elimination of the 3-time champions in the week-12 but there is nothing that would keep us bound to our television sets like a Patna Pirate match. As we wait for season 7 to go live, we can’t wait to see these young star performers make it big in the next season.
